The Black Forest NEW for 2012!
Freudenstadt, Germany
The Tree of Life

The Black Forest is an area of outstanding natural beauty which suggested our retreat theme TheTree of Life.

It is an area of picture-book houses and villages:

We shall be staying in a hotel in the forest, 15-20 minutes' walk from the centre of Freudenstadt, a delightful town which was a favourite holiday resort for European royalty in the early 20th century. It boasts the largest town square in Germany, with fountains which are a magnet for children and young people during the summer:

For those of us who are a little older, there is also much else of interest in the town. Some of it is helpfully set out in a history trail, which you can do on foot or on the "little train" and you can also just mooch and look at the shops:
Most trips to the Black Forest seem to be designed for hearty hikers or burly bikers. This one is different. There are opportunities for walking, but they are optional and the week is gently paced. However, you do need to be aware that the terrain is hilly.
