Brittany: the Maison Saint-François
We shall be staying at the Maison Saint-François in la Vicomté, a residential area of Dinard. The house is a Foyer de Charité, a house of prayer and hospitality. The emphasis is on welcoming people into a family atmosphere.
The Maison Saint-François is run by a lay community and a priest whose commitment extends to putting everything they have in common, like the first Christians. The members are seen here at a concert given to celebrate the 15th birthday of the community.
The house was set up as a holiday centre, offering very good value, fairly simple accommodation. All the rooms booked for our party are en
suite.

The ongoing life of prayer in the house creates an atmosphere which - if you're sensitive to these things - you feel as you walk in the gate: a great sense of peace permeates the house and gardens.
As well as relaxing in the
garden, you can stroll to
one of the very nearby
viewpoints with benches
to sit and enjoy the views
over the estuary to Saint-
Malo and Saint-Servan.
There is also a beach just below the retreat house. It is possible to swim there, but we can't guarantee the temperature of the water!
