Retreat in the Holy Land 2012
He will go before you into Galilee

Pilgrims to the Holy Land are often moved to tears by the realisation that they are standing on holy ground. To think, “Jesus knew the shape of these hills – Jesus walked on the water of this lake” can be a life-changing experience. Having travelled all the way to the Holy Land, most people want to see as many sites as possible, to bring both Old and New Testaments to life by visiting the places which have hitherto just been names. They then go home “keeping all these things in their hearts” to feed their faith and prayer-life.
If people have a regret at the end of such a rich experience, it is usually that they feel they have not had enough time in each location to be quiet and to allow God to speak to them through the site and the associated Bible texts. On a return visit to the Holy Land, therefore, they may prefer to visit fewer places but in more prayerful mode.
The Retreat Association has chosen to commend this trip because it offers the opportunity for sacred space in the sacred places. We shall start with two nights in Jerusalem: a short pilgrimage to prepare us for a week of walking with the Lord by the Sea of Galilee.
