Make retreats a treat and holidays holy
Northern Cyprus
Thy Kingdom Come!
LAST FEW PLACES STILL AVAILABLE!

In the last three thousand years, Northern Cyprus has owed allegiance to a dozen different kingdoms. Today, its existence is not officially recognised by any other country apart from Turkey. This extraordinary history and lived reality make North Cyprus a potent context in which to reflect on what we mean when we pray "Thy Kingdom come".

When the island was partitioned in 1983, the Turkish North had the best of the tourist resorts and also some very significant Christian churches and monasteries.

The Christian patron of the whole island is St Barnabas. A Cypriot by birth, he came back to his homeland with St Paul to bring the Good News. They landed at Salamis, which we shall be visiting on this retreat-holiday. The island was at that time a Roman colony and its Roman Governor became the first political leader anywhere to be converted to Christianity.
The majority of the population are Muslim. Our experience there is of warm welcome for us as Christians.
