Retreat-Holidays
The Pilgerhaus, Tabgha

The Pilgerhaus (literally, Pilgrim House) is a delightful Christian house of hospitality at Tabgha, on the north-western shore on the Sea of Galilee. It is run by the German Association of the Holy Land.

Because the Pilgerhaus is not a hotel, it doesn't have an official star rating, but, if it did, we consider that it would merit at least three and possibly four stars.
The house has been refurbished in the last few years to provide extremely pleasant and comfortable accommodation.

All the bedrooms are en suite, air conditioned and furnished to a high standard. Daily room service is provided.

Our retreat-holiday is half-board, with breakfast and dinner taken in the hotel's very attractive restaurant:

The Pilgerhaus also has a cafe-bar, with excellent lunches and snacks as well as drinks available at very reasonable prices throughout the day and into the evening. It has some indoor seating, and outdoor seating overlooking the lake.

There is a meditation room...

and other places to sit which lend themselves equally well to meditation:

Within walking distance is a Benedictine monastery with daily Mass and divine office (in German) either in the Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes or at the atmospheric outdoor altar of Dalmanutha, by the water's edge:

The water level of the Sea of Galilee is quite low at the moment, but it is still possible to bathe in it from the Pilgerhaus grounds.
