Retreat-Holidays
Provence: Hôtel le Colombier
Le Colombier means the dovecot or the house of the dove. The house was originally built in the 18th century as a farmhouse and it was also used as a staging post.
It was love at first sight when the director of Retreat-Holidays first discovered le Colombier! A number of our clients who have stayed here with us liked it so much that they have booked to come again now that we have a new retreat theme and a new programme of excursions.

Le Colombier is in the
foothills of the Alpes de
Haute Provence in an area which has not been spoilt (or, indeed, much affected) by tourism.

The hotel is surrounded by breathtaking views over
miles of lush Provençal
countryside. Our retreatants always comment on how peaceful it is - it is very much the sort of place where you want to stand (or sit or walk) and stare at God's creation.
The bedrooms vary, but they are all en suite and have double or twin beds; each room has its own chairs and table on a terrace. As a special concession to our group, there is no supplement for single occupancy of a double room.
A copious breakfast and very good set dinner
are served in the dining
room. The chef will cater
for vegetarian and other
special diets if notified in
advance. Drinks,
including tea and coffee,
can be bought from the
bar. The hotel will provide packed lunches or salads by arrangement (these are not included).
The hotel has a good
swimming pool but the dates when it opens depends on the weather each year. The average maximum temperature in May is in the early 20s C (70s F), so we may be lucky. When the pool is open, the hotel provides towels for it at a small charge.

We have only 11 of the 14 rooms at the hotel, so do book early or you may be disappointed.
