Retreat-Holidays
Provence: Hotel le Colombier

Le Colombier means the dovecot or the house of the dove. The house was originally built in the 18th century as a farmhouse and it was also used as a staging post. It is probably the most popular of all the places we stay.
The theme of our 2008 retreat-holidays in Provence is inspired by the name le Colombier: the Gifts of the Spirit. For 2009, we shall have a new theme and different excursions, so if you have been before and loved it, come again!

Le Colombier is in the
foothills of the Alpes de
Haute Provence in an area which has not been spoilt (or, indeed, much affected) by tourism.

The hotel is surrounded by
breathtaking views over
miles of lush Provençal
countryside. Our retreatants alweays comment on how peaceful it is - it is very
much the sort of place
where you want to stand
(or sit or walk) and stare
at God's creation.
The bedrooms vary, but they are all en suite and have double or twin beds, a television and chairs and table on a terrace. As a special concession to our group, there is no single supplement.
A copious breakfast and very good set dinner
are served in the dining
room. The chef will cater
for vegetarian and other
special diets if notified in
advance. Drinks,
including tea and coffee,
can be bought from the
bar. The hotel will provide packed lunches or salads by arrangement (these are not included).
The hotel has a good
swimming pool and
provides towels for it at a small charge. The average maximum temperature in May and September is in the early 20s C (70s F). It is usually very pleasant swimming in September; in May it varies from year to year whether it is warm enough.

There are only 12 rooms,
so do book early or you
may be disappointed.
