Turkish gulet: the Prenses Begüm
The Prenses Begüm is a lovely 26-metre wooden ketch built in 2003 to a very high standard. She is captained by her owner who named her after his daughter Begüm, his little "princess".
The boat is designed to

On deck, there are
both sunbedsand shade.
Statistics: the boat's engine is 440hp; her cruising speed is 11 knots; her fuel capacity is 3 tons and her clean water capacity 4 tons. The gulet usually motors, but, weather permitting, the sails are usually raised at some point in the week.

The eight guest cabins are all double or twin - but there is NO SUPPLEMENT for single occupancy. All the cabins are en suite and, unlike the shower-rooms on most gulets, they have proper shower cubicles rather than showers that soak the loo and everything else! Participants on previous retreat-holidays have said that the cabins were much more luxurious than they were expecting from the photograph below.
Food and drink
All meals are included. The food is wonderful: Turkish and copious. One of the good things about it is that a range of dishes is served at every meal, so if you don't like one dish there are always plenty of others.
Vegetarians are well catered for (as long as we are notified in advance). Meals are normally served on deck but there is also a dining table in the saloon.
Tea and coffee are included with breakfast, mid-morning and mid-afternoon. For other drinks, a tab is kept and you pay at the end of the week. People often ask about the bar prices. In 2011, our clients commented that they were very reasonable, with a half-litre bottle of water costing 40p, a small can of beer £2 and a bottle of wine £9 or £10. Someone drinking water, half a bottle of wine each evening, a beer at lunch-time and the occasional Turkish gin and tonic had a bar bill of about £60 for the week.
We advise you to book early as there are only eight guest cabins, one of which will be occupied by the leader.
